Bringing Joy to All: The Power of the Jester

You might not be conscious of it, but we humans are fools. 

Fortunately, there are two kinds of fools, one fool that says: “This is old, therefore it is good”, and the other fool that says: “This is new, therefore it is better” (William Ralph Inge). You are probably right if this sounds like a battle between generations – Alpha’s, Gen Z, Millennials, Gen X, and Baby Boomers.

We have summoned back a forgotten institution – the Jester, “the Fool” or “the Joker”. No, not the one from the Batman movies or those Jokers you might have encountered in a deck of cards, but the Jester that had a key role in society in the past. 

The Jester was employed throughout the ages by different cultures like the Aztecs, the Romans, the Chinese, and many European societies. During the Middle Ages and the Renaissance period, the Jester was one of the few people that held a freedom of speech privilege and was employed not just to entertain the leaders, their guests, and the people, but also to tell stories and spread messages to every town and village around the country using humor, wit, and irony, being dressed up in a myriad of colors, and showing the ability to sing, dance, juggle and perform magic tricks. All to create an ambiance of innocence and distraction, a space to entertain, engage, smile, and relate important and relevant messages.  

The role of the Jester seems again to be relevant now more than ever. We, at Jesta Freak, believe we can become the ultimate honest and transparent source for consumers to know more about brands or consumers inform us about brands and their experiences.

Jesta Freak – an institution that brings together different sides, presents facts, emotions, and opinions using wit and humor, conveys bad news and if not successful throws a party trick and makes you hopefully sit up and laugh. All with the aim to bring some common sense and honesty back, whilst facilitating progress and solutions that you might not have been aware of as a consumer and as a brand. The role of the Jester is to be independent and to serve you – the consumers and the companies (brands) – through positive engagement.  

So, what can you expect from us? For instance, rather than contradicting companies, brands and consumers, we could agree with the current approach, process, scheme, fact, or behavior wholeheartedly and might – occasionally – take this to a logical extreme, highlighting success, magnitude, significance, OR its shortcomings, stupidity, flaws, improper use or plain incorrectness. 

The consumers and companies can then decide for themselves that maybe the above is not such a good idea after all in their views, or that it makes no sense, or what is happening is not correct or they see that they are clearly being fooled, or finally become conscious and aware of the known unknown. We have created a Jester’s Court to provide feedback, bring your case, meet the community, and much more.

What we stand for at Jesta Freak

It is important to be clear about what we do and what we are:

  • Not an activist – we do not support or fight for a particular cause, we will however provide insights into potential sources and effects in the context of our topic.
  • Not political or ideological – we do not support any political party, ideology (left or right view), or support the method of governance of any place.
  • Anonymous – we use Avatars as Jesters, each Jester having their own personality and experience.
  • Facilitator – we bring in this case consumers and brands together, to provide deeper understanding between the parties (and yes there are still “big gaps”) and remain “neutral” by not taking a particular view. 
  • We try to find the facts, value opinions, and discredit lies.

The Jesters working for Jesta Freak will provide you with insights for you the consumers, the brands, the media, and others, by using existing and new data, supported by our analysis and deep insights, with the aim to make you more aware and therefore conscious on what is potentially happening or not, between you the consumers and the brands.
