The legend began in 1941. World War II was just beginning, and the United States Army had requested a vehicle that was small but mighty. Its purposes were for general use, but four-wheel drive and cross-country capabilities were a priority. It also had to be able to carry a small machine gun.
That vehicle turned out to be the Willys MB Jeep — and it was the first mass-produced 4×4 vehicle. It was also the first vehicle to be driven on all seven continents. In fact, this is why the Jeep Wrangler famously has seven slots in its grille.
If you’ve ever gotten to ride in a Jeep Wrangler — sans top and doors — then you’ve likely been chasing that high ever since. The Wrangler emerged from the Willys as its commercially branded successor, and has since then been synonymous with freedom, adventure, and off-road excellence.
Of course, Jeep has rolled out an impressive lineup of 4×4 vehicles in the past eight decades, which have expanded beyond the two-door Wrangler to accommodate the needs of all types of people and tastes. No matter the innovations made regarding handling, comfort, and connectivity, the Jeep’s off-road prowess remains at the very heart and soul of each vehicle.
XJ engines reign supreme, even today, so much so they were said to have been carved by the lightning bolt of Zeus himself. And the Jeep wave among Wrangler enthusiasts remains a pleasurable privilege — one that unites all kinds of people on the road.

Even today’s various models keep the Jeep spirit alive in character, style, and off-road capability. There’s also no shortage of aftermarket modifications out there to customize your ride — turn it into a beast, or keep even the eldest Jeep running.

What can we say? Whether you’re on or off the road, it’s a Jeep thing.
