Spotlight on: Delsey

I have lived abroad for many years and have dedicated suitcases to move stuff. When I bought these travel cases the sole purpose was to move things from house A to B – never for travel. However, on some occasions when I needed the extra space to take stuff with me on holiday, I often took one of these bags, and yes I regret it as I forgot whilst being at the airport that the wheels do not properly turn, or the handle is so thin that it cuts into my hands, no lock, and the zipper broke off on the first serious pull. These bags were reasonably priced between $25-$50 each and I should not expect a lot from them.

So, I recently decided to buy a suitcase purely for my travel needs. There are many options, affordable suitcase brands like Samsonite, or its subsidiary American Tourister, Travelpro, Delsey, Rockland, AmazonBasics, U.S. Traveler, SwissGear, IT Luggage, and Olympia offer a range of options for budget-conscious travelers. These brands provide durable and functional suitcases at various price points, with features like lightweight designs, stylish hardshell options, and practical features. Comparing prices and reading customer reviews can help in finding the best affordable suitcase brand that suits individual needs and preferences.

I ended up with Delsey. I know this brand from my years when traveling with my parents. They are known to be sturdy, light, and good design. My Grandma always reminded me that these Delsey’s are somewhat more expensive so we should use them only for travel. Well to my surprise I came across a great offer and I bought myself a white Delsey suitcase.

Delsey is a luggage brand known for its quality and innovation. A key feature is a padded compartment with zippered pockets, ideal for electronics and documents. They also include TSA-approved locks, expandable zippers, and durable spinner wheels for smooth, long-lasting use.

Prices range from $70 to $300, with popular models between $100-$150. While premium models offer better materials and features.

But what I like about the suitcase, for the first time in years I could recognize my bag from a distance on the carousel at the airport. It stood out as a real Jester amongst all my fellow travelers’ black and grey suitcases.
